Climate change encompasses both global warming driven by human emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and the resulting large-scale shifts in weather patterns. While climate change has always been a natural phenomenon, the current phase is largely attributable to anthropogenic factors that are accelerating the process. The consequences of climate change include rising sea levels, more frequent and severe weather events, shifts in wildlife populations and habitats, and impacts on human health, livelihoods, and various ecosystems.
