I am a qualified professional holding a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Malta with over 10 years in-house experience working in a variety of industries including franchising, shipping and freight, real estate, employment, fintech, capital markets, corporate finance, blockchain and sports. In my initial years acting as in-house, I gained extensive experience with an international group of companies engaged in multi-sited activities with a strong focus on employment, commercial and corporate law matters both locally and abroad. My focus was then shifted to capital markets transactions for debt instruments traded on the Malta Stock Exchange as well as international M&A transactions for new business ventures undertaken by the organisation that spanned the globe. Currently engaged as Chief Legal Officer with Chiliz, a leading sports and entertainment organisation, having a global presence, fusing sports with blockchain technology offering sports fans the ultimate fan engagement experience. Having joined from the inception stages, I have built the legal infrastructure and am now managing an international team of in-house lawyers. I have been involved in the regulatory affairs from the early years of this innovative industry, overseeing litigation matters, drafting and negotiating key commercial partnerships with prominent sports legends and clubs as well as various M&A and other strategic business transactions. My role focuses on the challenges and opportunities presented by the forever evolving fintech industry - I am a solution-driven legal professional with the aim of providing practical and easy to follow advice to drive company goals.
